For this session plan, look at the cover with your student to predict what the book might be about. Read the safety tips on the front and back of the book. As you read, point out funny details in the illustrations. Talk about the characters in the book, noticing clues about how the characters feel throughout the story. Students can write their own safety tips on the star template and glue them in their journal. Introduce students to action words by working together to circle. Review past journal writing and underline more action words.
